Why it Works

A Culture of Practice
Jounce helps create and maintain a coaching process and culture of practice within a school, in which teachers get better, faster.

Jounce turns schools into true learning organizations in which teachers get better, faster.

Think of Jounce as software updates for schools.  A Jounce partner provides frequent infusions of content expertise (the newest apps) and maintenance of the coaching process and culture of practice within a school (the update of the operating system) so that the school's staff is getting smarter, faster, and more effective with every week of partnership.

We transform the passive "Observation and Feedback" model of teacher development into an active and urgent "Practice and Modeling."  When a leader is "observing" she is also modeling skills the teacher can use immediately.  When a leader is giving "feedback," he is also leading teachers through many rounds of practice to truly internalize the new skills.

We Love Great Teaching
At Jounce Partners, we love great teaching because its important to our kids.

Jounce institutes a process of rapid teacher development, builds a culture of practice in schools, and infuses content expertise to increase teacher growth.

1. Jounce institutes a process of rapid teacher development at a partner school:

  • High-repetition practice for teachers
  • Live coaching and modeling by principals in every classroom
  • Intellectual curiosity invigorates the craft of teaching

2. Jounce builds the culture of growth and practice into the fabric of the school:

  • Practicing ones craft becomes a proud public part of staff members' daily life
  • Feedback, modeling, and the opportunity to learn 'new moves' is fun and exciting

3. Jounce infuses content expertise as the raw material of teacher growth:

  • Where gaps exist in deep knowledge of content or curriculum, they are filled
  • Cutting edge thinking around content and curriculum are shared
