Miriam Darby

School Acceleration Partner

As a School Acceleration Partner, Miriam works with the Executive Director to improve and refine the Jounce coaching model and leads training for school leaders and teachers across Jounce partner schools.

Prior to Jounce, Miriam was the principal of KIPP DC Heights Academy for five years in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington DC. During her leadership the elementary school was awarded the National Blue Ribbon School award for academic excellence and progress toward closing the opportunity gap. Prior to leading Heights as principal, Miriam served as an Assistant Principal for five years within the KIPP DC network and was also named a 2018 Fisher Fellow, and a 2016 Miles Family Fellow with KIPP Public Schools.

Miriam is passionate about cognitive science and knowledge acquisition for all learners. Miriam enjoys meditation, interior design, photography, cooking, traveling, collecting Smiski, and all things women’s basketball. 

Miriam holds a BA in Social Work and Gender and Women’s Studies from Providence College and a M.Ed in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University.
