Jounce by the numbers
Jounce is now reaching 30,000 students in 100 schools across 10 cities. We currently partner with approximately 130 instructional leaders (network leaders, principals, and assistant principals); our Instructional Leader Fellows are coaching more than 125 teachers; and we have 5 Fellowship alumni currently in school leadership roles with 7 more Fellows who will be leading at high-performing schools in the next two years.
School leaders with Jounce coaching accelerate student learning
Math
Using state standardized test data where available and nationally normed assessment data in untested grades, we evaluated math performance in the schools and grade bands where we coached leaders weekly. Math proficiency increased across all of these partner schools between 2023 and 2024, with more than half of schools gaining over 10 points in student math proficiency. Many of our partner schools were able to double or triple math proficiency between 2023 and 2024.

We also evaluated ELA performance across schools where we coached leaders weekly. More than half of these partner schools showed increases of 8 percentage points or more from 2023 to 2024, and a quarter of our partner schools more than doubled the number of students reading on grade level.

Jounce Fellows drive improved student performance - even before they graduate from the Fellowship
Jounce Instructional Leader Fellows will complete their Fellowship and move into school leadership roles and lead transformative change for students - but while they are on the Jounce team, they have an immediate impact on student learning. We have conducted comparative reviews of student outcomes at two of our partners - one standalone school where our Fellows coached 6 of the 24 teachers and one network of schools where Fellows coached approximately 30 of the 200 teachers.

Teachers coached directly by Jounce led 55% of their students to meet ELA MAP growth goals in winter 2024, compared to 37% of students in other classrooms.
Teachers coached directly by Jounce led 64% of their students to meet Math MAP growth goals in winter 2024, compared to 41% of students in other classrooms.
