Jounce Method

As Jounce partnerships grow, our Partner Schools consistently report an evolution from classroom management to systems change. Jounce coaching typically begins with immediate interventions in classroom management and best-practice teaching technique, and evolves towards capacity-building that creates sustainable, effective, instructional leadership.

Jounce begins every relationship by supporting immediate needs, but our theory of change ultimately strives to build capacity and excellence in Partner School instructional leadership teams.

Like with a new teacher, when we were working with Jounce at the beginning, it was very focused on key teacher skills around classroom management, which was and is very important work. But then the longer we worked with them, the more we were able to partner around instruction and leverage the curriculum choices that we’ve made in the best possible way. And so Jounce has really become a curriculum partner, too, and we’ve really changed the way we’re coaching. Jounce has been an indispensable partner.
— Kristi Littell, Wissahickon Charter School CEO

Over the past couple years, Jounce’s work has evolved with us. It started with just kind of like coaching our principal and her leadership team on systems of high-rep practice for teachers, and how to standardize great teacher moves. And then in the past two years, we just felt like we weren’t able to give our Philly campus enough support with new instructional leaders, and so Jounce has done a ton of instructional management work with our leaders and teachers there.
— Emily Fernandez, Hebrew Public Charter Network Head of Schools

We really focused our first round with Jounce on classroom management and creating a really stable learning environment. But now they’re working with our leaders and our coaches. I think the magic is that we can marry the Jounce knowledge with our own context and then make something successful.
— Dr. Darcy Russotto, Pan American Academy Charter School CEO
